Washington, D.C. Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) joins Focus on the Family, March for Life, abortion survivors and pro-life activists in New York City for Alive from New York, the largest pro-life gathering ever in Times Square. The event features live music, inspirational speeches and abortion survivor stories, culminating in a live 4D ultrasound broadcast on massive digital screens across Times Square.

Thousands of viewers across the country will celebrate the sanctity of human life and support mothers facing unplanned pregnancies as they join with the crowd in Times Square to watch via livestream.

SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser will be on stage to share remarks about recent disturbing displays of abortion extremism from Democratic Party leaders across the country, including New York’s own Gov. Andrew Cuomo, as well as hopeful stories of courageous legislators taking a stand for life.

“This historic event brings indisputable evidence of the humanity of the unborn child to the ‘Abortion Capital of the United States,’ where late-term abortions outnumber reported homicides four to one,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Here in New York and across the nation, Americans are appalled to see Gov. Cuomo and other Democratic Party leaders backing abortion on demand through birth and even infanticide. They and their representatives have been spurred to take action. We hope the powerful images shown here today will soften the hardest of hearts and challenge the extreme agenda of the Democratic Party on abortion which is deeply out of step with the American people.”

Nearly 200 members of Congress have signed a discharge petition filed by House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) to hold a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, legislation to protect babies born alive in failed abortions. House Democratic Party leaders have refused more than 35 requests by members to vote on the bill. If a majority of representatives sign the petition, it will force a vote by the full House.

Nationwide polling released by SBA List finds that 77 percent of voters support legislation to ensure that a baby who survives a failed abortion be given the same medical treatment as any other baby born prematurely at the same age (55 percent strongly support.)

President Donald Trump has consistently called out the Democratic Party for their support of late-term abortion and even infanticide, following efforts in New York and Virginia to legalize abortion on demand through birth.

SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
