Planned Parenthood Shows Inconsistency with PRENDA Opposition

Planned Parenthood and NARAL have expressed staunch opposition to Rep. Trent Frank’s (R-ZA) Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA), a bill that would ban sex-selection and race-based abortions. It is ironic that organizations that pride themselves on “standing up for women” would oppose a bill that specifically protects baby girls in the womb. Once again, Planned Parenthood and NARAL have shown that abortions – not women – are their top priority.

As sex-selection abortions have become prevalent in cultures around the globe, Planned Parenthood and NARAL have remained silent. As entire populations of the next generation of the world’s women are killed in the womb, these groups have not taken a single action to save them. This week they took the unprecedented step of actually opposing action to curb the trend.

As cultures devalue female babies in the womb, it sends a message to women of all ages that they are not valued as highly as men. PRENDA is a crucial step toward stopping this societal shift and creating a culture that values women.

Earlier this week, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and dozens of other pro-abortion groups sent a letter to Congress opposing PRENDA. It is unfathomable that groups that claim to value women would take such a strong stand against a bill that protects their lives.
